Austin Casting Director
Casting for Austin productions.
Austin productions can bring a script-driven film, a brand campaign and a fast-moving content shoot into the same casting conversation. GS Casting LLC helps producers turn that conversation into a clear breakdown and a considered shortlist. Led by Pat Skiles and based in Houston, we serve Austin and surrounding Central Texas communities through established talent agencies, self-tapes and coordinated sessions — without claiming an Austin office.
Start with the performance, not just the look
For a film or television role, send the character's place in the story, the sides and the shooting schedule. We cast principal, supporting and day-player roles, reviewing performance choices in the context of the scene rather than treating every audition as a standalone clip.
For a commercial or branded project, the brief shifts to the campaign's audience, tone and usage. Print, voice-over and corporate productions can draw on the same agency-led process, with the audition material tailored to what the final work actually needs.
An Austin casting brief that travels well
If your director, producer and agency are working from different cities, a shared brief prevents conflicting requests. Include the filming location, dates, role requirements, budget framework, intended media and any travel or local-hire conditions before outreach begins.
Austin and nearby Central Texas locations should be identified separately when they affect travel or availability. A performer who is available for an Austin shoot may need different arrangements for a location outside the city.
Agency outreach and remote review
GS Casting sources performers through established representation, not paid audition access. Our existing Texas resources include Austin agencies such as Acclaim Talent, Beaz Talent and Collier Talent Agency; the project breakdown determines which representation is relevant.
Self-tapes let your creative team review options without making a preliminary trip. We handle the review and organize selects, then coordinate callbacks and discuss whether remote or in-person sessions suit the remaining decisions. Tell us early about deadlines and who will approve the final cast.
Keep location planning separate from casting
The Austin Film Commission provides production guidance, but it does not issue permits; the relevant city departments handle permitting for locations such as streets, sidewalks and parks. Your producer should confirm those requirements while casting dates are being settled.
Use the commission's guidance for location logistics and GS Casting for the roles, agency communication and audition process. Keeping those responsibilities distinct helps avoid changing a casting schedule around an unresolved location.
Austin Film Commission · Permits & RegulationsA casting director with an agency background
Pat Skiles spent approximately fifteen years as a SAG-AFTRA talent agent before transitioning into casting. That background informs how she reads a breakdown, communicates with representatives and evaluates a shortlist.
GS Casting is an independent casting company hired by production companies and creative professionals. We do not offer actor representation or sell auditions. To discuss an Austin project, send the production type, location, dates, description and talent needs through our inquiry form.
